Carbon Capture and Storage

Carbon capture and storage

Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is a mechanism by which waste carbon dioxide, which is produced as a by-product of burning fossil fuels, is captured and transported to a storage site, in order to prevent it from entering the atmosphere and contributing to global warming.

The NOC is able to collaborate within CCS projects to offer scientific expertise and innovative solutions from site potential and selection to site development. We are seeking partners around the development and supply of cost effective and autonomous solutions for monitoring the integrity of CCS sites.

The NOC is able to provide:

  • Excellent subsea geological knowledge and scientific expertise
  • Access to autonomous underwater vehicles, which are able to aid in both site selections (using bubble detection and chemical sensing), monitoring of site integrity and maintenance, at a fraction of the cost of using ships
  • Ecological and environmental expertise and environmental impact assessments.
