Careers

Leading the way in ocean science

We are a world-leading oceanographic centre employing over 650 people. We provide excellent opportunities for staff from the UK and around the world, and from a range of backgrounds, to collaborate with their experience and ideas to produce the highest quality research.

Many of our staff are scientists, engineers or technologists who carry out world-leading research, or develop the machines and run the ships that help us understand the ocean environment. They are supported by staff working in areas as diverse as finance, HR, IT, facilities management and communications.

Both NOC sites are embedded in university campuses and are part of dynamic learning environments where graduate students carry out research alongside some of the leading scientists in their field.

Learning and development

As a holder of the Investors in People award, NOC takes seriously the learning and development needs of its staff. We offer opportunities to develop and enhance their skills through on-the-job development and training to further expand their horizons. We actively promote the recruitment and career progression of women, and we are committed to equality and diversity in our workplace.
