Geophysical Surveys
Geophysical surveys are complex operations that require skilled specialists to operate the equipment.
As research ships have evolved over time, so has the technology and equipment they carry. Demand for new and improved measurements, longer endurance and monitoring in different environments are all drivers for this innovation. The NOC supports multi-disciplinary research projects at sea, operating towed and moored sampling systems, benthic sampling systems (coring and dredging) and seismic systems as well as the vast array of winches, mobile laboratories and the IT systems that support these key tasks.
A range of the systems and equipment are available to hire for scientific research via the National Marine Equipment Pool. The NOC is also able to support the operation of equipment on other research ships.
