Scientists at the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) have helped to compile a new database of coastal flooding in the UK over the last 100 years, which will provide crucial information to help prevent future flooding events.

BODC to host NERC funded ‘Hackathon’

A NERC funded ‘Hackathon’ will take place at the Digital Catapult Centre in London between 27 and 28 February. This event is being organised by the British Oceanographic Data Centre (BODC) and the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH), and will provide an exciting opportunity to hack environmental data and create value from Linked Open Data sets.

New Head of British Oceanographic Data Centre appointed

Dr Graham Allen

Dr Graham Allen will take up a permanent position as Head of the British Oceanographic Data Centre (BODC) on 4 August. The BODC’s role is to facilitate high quality research outcomes by connecting stakeholders to oceanographic data and the knowledge from this, with consequential economic, environmental and societal impacts.
