Some 340 European scientists, policy-makers and other experts, including representatives from the National Oceanography Centre, have agreed a common vision of priorities for marine research and action until 2020.

Next week there will be two meetings entitled ‘Arctic sea ice reduction: the evidence, models, and global impacts’, held under the auspices of the Royal Society, organised by Prof Daniel Feltham (U Reading), with Dr Sheldon Bacon (NOC), Dr Mark Brandon (Open University) and Professor (Emeritus) Julian Hunt FRS.

18-19 September 2014, Church House, Westminster, London. In 2014 RAPID reached 10 years of continuous observations of overturning circulation in the Atlantic Ocean.

The joint UK-US RAPID programme has been making observation of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) since April 2004. To mark this milestone, a day-and-a-half event is being held.
