Dr Catherine Harris

Biography

My research interests are in the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to real-world problems. 

I primarily research how to use AI and knowledge representation to increase the effectiveness of Marine Autonomous Systems (MAS) for scientific data collection, given the challenges of operating in highly uncertain, partially-observable, chaotic ocean environments.

I believe that technology must genuinely empower people and society, and am keen to implement and shape best practice in ensuring accountability, integrity and transparency when utilising AI and robotics in scientific research.
