Supporting the Collection of Biogeochemical Data

The ever-changing chemical composition of the oceans plays a critical role in supporting life on earth.  NOC invents novel chemical sensors to support the autonomous collection of important biogeochemical data from the oceans.  We push the state of the art in analytical performance and robustness of these technologies by combining broad interdisciplinary expertise from assay development, system design, electronics and mechanical engineering, applied physics, and other fields.

Our autonomous chemical sensors have been used all over the globe, from the sea surface and the coasts to the deep open ocean and the seafloor, and from the tropics to the poles.  Where possible, we create platform technologies that can be readily adapted for new applications and easily integrated into new platforms.  We work with a wide variety of end users from across the global scientific community to deliver instrumentation that addresses current and future requirements of the ocean observing community.

NOC's Marine Technology Capabilities

Today, NOC's abundance of world-leading technology allows society to advance our knowledge of the ocean on a worldwide scale. Their growing capability has transformed our ability to monitor the oceans by enabling autonomous, adaptive and persistent observations from the surface to the deepest depths and furthest reaches of the oceans.
